Music label Saregama India Ltd and Timbre Media Pvt Ltd announced a tie up on Tuesday, to create customised radio channels. These channels will leverage Saregama's content and distribution strengths, with programming handled by Timbre's team of ex-Worldspace Radio employees.
Channels will be across languages and genres, and will be available on the mobile, Web and DTH platforms. The first channel will debut on the mobile platform in eight weeks, said company officials. Talks are on with cellular service providers currently, and pricing is being worked out.
Under the agreement, Saregama will acquire 10 per cent stake in Timbre Media. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
