Tata Power's Mundra Ultra Mega Power Project (UMPP) generated 62,945.77 million units (MU) of electricity during 2012 to 2015, thereby providing power to about 2 per cent of the country's power needs in five states, a statement informed here.
The 4000-MW UMPP by Coastal Gujarat Power Limited (CGPL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Power, has successfully completed three years of operation, generating 62,945.77 MUs of electricity using supercritical technology.
Mundra UMPP supplies electricity to 8 discoms in 5 states, namely Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Haryana and Punjab.
The Mundra UMPP meets 2 per cent of India's power needs and benefits close to 16 million domestic consumers, apart from supplying cost competitive power to industry and agriculture.
Gujarat is the largest procurer of power from CGPL at 47.5 per cent, followed by Maharashtra at 20 per cent, Punjab at 12.5 per cent, and Haryana and Rajasthan at 10 per cent each.
Commenting on the development, Anil Sardana, CEO & MD, Tata Power, said, “Over the last 3 years, we have lit up millions of homes with electricity, and have touched even more lives with our dedicated team living up to the Group philosophy of ‘serving the society’.
