Absence of orders for wagons from Indian Railways has forced Texmaco Rail & Engineering Ltd to aggressively move for diversification and exports.

It expects to execute its orders for loco bogies from Kazakhstan in the next couple of months.

The Kolkata-based wagon maker’s 50:50 joint venture with UGL Rail of Australia last year secured export orders for loco bogies from Kazakhstan and Queensland Rail.

“Kazakhstan export supplies of 35 bogies are almost over. It would be through in a couple of months,” Sandeep Fuller, Chief Executive Officer (Heavy Engg), Texmaco Rail & Engineering Ltd, told Business Line here on Wednesday on the sidelines of a seminar on logistics organised by CII.

He, however, did not give a delivery timeline for the other export order from Australia. According to him, the company’s JV has got an order for 180 bogies from Queensland Rail.

Meanwhile, Fuller expressed discontent over Indian Railways’ delay in releasing the long pending orders for wagons.

Fuller, however, hoped that the proposed 3,300 km dedicated freight corridor projects could help the company’s order book to improve.

“I have a lot of faith in the dedicated freight corridor projects,” he said.
