Vedanta Ltd has put in bids for 21 out of the 25 contract areas on offer during the second round of bids in the Discovered Small Fields Bid Round.

A statement from the Directorate General of Hydrocarbons (DGH) said that 145 e-bids were submitted by 39 companies for 24 contract areas (58 oil/gas discoveries) on offer. The Krishna Godavari-Offshore-GK 39/2018 was the only contract area with no bids.

The bid submission process was completed on January 30. Bidding started on August 9, 2018, and 25 contract areas were on offer, covering 59 discovered oil and gas fields. These areas are spread over 3,000 sq km, with a prospective resource base of over 190 million tonne (oil and oil-equivalent gas).

“Out of the total 145 e-bids received, 103 e-bids were received for on-land contract areas and 42 e-bids were received for offshore contract areas. Out of 25 contract areas on offer, 15 are on-land and 10 are in shallow offshore areas,” the DGH statement said.

According to the DGH, 39 companies (individually or as a member of the bidding consortium) have participated in the bid round. During this round, six foreign companies have also submitted the bids. This bid round saw participation from new entrants from India and foreign countries like the US, the UK, Australia, Singapore and the UAE.

The government intends to award the contract areas by end of February, the DGH said.
