Volkswagen has reported a 244 per cent jump in May sales to 6,185 units from 1,796 units in the same month last year.
In May 2011, the company sold 5,889 units of Polo and Vento and 184 units of Passat with BlueMotion Technologies.
During January-May 2011, the company sold 33,958 units against 32,627 units in the same period last year.
“We are pleased with the overall performance and acceptability of our products in India which has enabled us to outshine our last year’s sales in five months,” the Volkswagen Group Sales India, Member of Board & Director, Passenger Cars, Mr Neeraj Garg, said in a statement.
“We hope to continue our performance in the coming months, despite the current market scenario,” he added.
