Volvo Car India on Monday said that it has received 200 bookings for the recently launched compact luxury SUV XC40 R-Design, priced at an introductory price of ₹39.90 lakh (ex-showroom, India).

The special introductory price offer on R-Design has come to a successful conclusion, the company said, adding that the XC40 R-Design is now available at ₹42.90 lakh (ex-showroom). This completes the variant line-up of XC40 for this year, it said.

The company said it is adding two new variants of the ‘European Car of the Year’ and bookings are opened with scheduled deliveries later this month—XC40 D4 Momentum priced at ₹39.90 lakh and XC40 D4 Inscription priced at ₹43.9 lakh (all ex-showroom, India).

“We have received such a positive response for the newly launched XC40. It’s a great beginning for us and we expect it to contribute considerably in achieving 10 per cent segment share by 2020,” Charles Frump, Managing Director, Volvo Car India said.

The variants of XC40 is feature-rich, even the base model Momentum that gets panoramic Sunroof, all-wheel drive, front radar, leather upholstery, nine-inch centre touchscreen, Hill Descent Control, rear parking camera among others.

Volvo Car recorded the best ever first half this year with 33 per cent growth in volumes in January-June versus last year. The sales performance of 1,242 units is spearheaded by the XC60 which contributed 25 per cent of the total volume, the company added.
