Weir Group, which has interest in mining and engineering services in India, has invested Rs 60 crore to set up a new rubber facility in Bangalore.
Weir Minerals India has set up the rubber manufacturing facility to serve the requirements of the domestic mining industry. The new facility has precision equipment and a research and development laboratory to improve the properties of rubber material.
The facility has been built in six months and from a current capacity of 200 MT per annum with a workforce of about 25 people, it is expected to be ramped up to 400 MT per annum over the next three years.
The rubber unit will produce mill liners, erosion resistant rubber lining, rubber hoses, rubber liners for cyclones, screen media, polyurethane products, slurry pump and valve rubber parts. The unit will support Weir Minerals, and the Weir BDK valves and pumps unit in India.
Inaugurating the unit, Weir Chief Executive, Mr Keith Cochrane, said the new facility is in line with Weir India strategy to serve customers with locally manufactured products.
