An alert has been sounded in the low-lying downstream areas of the Sardar Sarovar Dam on Narmada river here following huge inflow of water from Madhya Pradesh, officials said today. The alert was sounded late last night in Tilakwada and Nandod talukas of the district and some talukas of Vadodara and Bharuch district after water began overflowing at the height of 127 m as against the dam height of 121.93 metres, they said. District officials have been asked to remain alert as the dam was overflowing due to inflow from upstream which was around three lakh cusecs since last night. This morning, the inflow had decreased and the dam was overflowing at 126.90 m, officials said.
