Indian tourists flow to Australia is on the rise. In the first five months of 2011, about 64,900 tourists visited `Down Under’, an increase of 10.6 per cent over the comparative period in 2010.

Interestingly, in May alone, nearly 15, 000 Indians travelled to various locations in Australia, according to available information.

Facilitating two-way growth in tourism between India and Australia, Tourism Australia is holding India Travel Mission 2011 (ITM) at Hyderabad during August 25-28, 2011. The ITM is a residential business forum bringing together Indian travel agents and Australian tourism industry operators to meet and forge business relationships.

The event will witness participation from over 90 buyer delegates from travel agencies across India who will meet with over 40 seller delegates from Australia. Maggie White, Regional General Manager, South/South East Asia and Gulf Countries, Tourism Australia said in a press release.

ITM 2011 will see participation from four major airlines, namely, AirAsia, Qantas, Singapore Airlines and Virgin Australia – all except Qantas will be participating at ITM for the first time. The ITM this year will also witness the participation of new seller companies such as Mercure Sydney, Mirvac Hotels & Resorts and The Menzies Sydney, Mr Nishant Kashikar, Country Manager - India, Tourism Australia said
