Private sector is being roped in for smart marketing of khadi and village industry products.

The government-owned Khadi Village Industries Corporation (KVIC), which was set up in 1957 for the promotion of khadi and rural products, has invited expression of interest for setting up a marketing organisation on a public-private partnership (PPP) basis.

The marketing outfit, under the PPP, is being set up as part of reform programmes in KVIC with the help of the Asian Development Bank.

“The marketing organisation is envisaging creating a demand pull from both domestic as well as the international markets,” the KVIC said.

The KVIC partner could be a corporate, partnership firm or even an individual entrepreneur, it said.

KVIC, a statutory body established under an Act of Parliament, markets the khadi and related products through a string of stores known as Khadi Gram Udyog.
