One more unit of the thermal power station at Tuticorin was shut down today following a technical snag, taking the total loss of generation to 420 MW.
According to officials, the operation of the second unit of the 5x210 MW was stopped after a puncture in its boiler. The third unit was shut down on May 12 after its boiler suffered a puncture.
“Both second and third units are faulty... Technical staff are on the work to rectify the faults,” officials said.
Tamil Nadu has been facing acute power shortage but the position eased a bit in the last couple of days with the wind power generation going up.
