The third round of meeting of the US-China Strategic and Economic Dialogue will be held here on May 9 and 10.
The US Secretary of State, Ms Hillary Clinton, and the Treasury Secretary, Mr Tim Geithner, will be joined for the dialogue by the Chinese co-chairs, the Vice-Premier, Mr Wang Qishan, and the State Councillor, Mr Dai Bingguo, officials said.
Besides the strategic issues, economic issues including the contentious currency issues are expected to dominate the proceedings of the two-day meeting.
The United States is also expected to raise the issue of continued human rights violation in China and parts of Tibet.
Meanwhile, the US Treasury Department has delayed the publication of its report on currency that would result in sanctions against China.
US lawmakers have been complaining about China’s manipulation of its currency for trade advantage.
