Upcountry retail markets were closed for Dasara and Bakrid. The demand was weak at Sale No: 40 of Coonoor Tea Trade Association auction and 34 per cent of the offer remained unsold. There were no takers for teas worth ₹4.03 crore. Homedale Estate tea, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, topped the CTC market when PS Tea Industries bought it for ₹192 a kg. Deepika Supreme got ₹190 a kg, Navilkal Estate ₹188, Sree Tea Supreme ₹187, Vigneshwar Estate ₹185, Crosshill Estate ₹184, Shanthi Supreme and Hittakkal Estate ₹182 each. In all, 54 marks got ₹125 and more per kg. Among orthodox teas, Kodanad got ₹222, Havukal ₹216, Chamraj ₹215, and Kairbetta ₹210.
