Use of Biofloc technology can increase marine fish production considerably, a top official of Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Science University (TANUVAS) said today.
Currently the marine fish and prawn production in Tamil Nadu is around 4.5 lakh tonnes per annum and this could be increased to seven lakh tonnes with Bioloc technology, TANUVAS Vice-Chancellor, Dr R Prabhakaran, said here.
He was speaking after inaugurating workshops on Biofloc Technology and Intelligent Planning, Effective Implementation and Productive Utility of results to augment aquaculture Production organised at Fisheries College and Research Institute. Prof. Yoram Aunimelech, Director of World Aquaculture Society, delivered the keynote address, a release said.
