The Gujarat Chief Minister, Mr Narendra Modi, will inaugurate tomorrow ‘Krishi Mahotsav’, a month-long mega agriculture fair of seven districts of south Gujarat, at the tribal-dominated Nana Pondha village in Valsad district.

During the event, the Chief Minister will give away cash awards worth over Rs 60 lakh to 11 farmers from south Gujarat, who have applied modern technology and new methods in agriculture, Valsad district collector, Mr L.C. Patel, said in a press release.

“Thousands of farmers from Surat, Narmada, Bharuch, Navsari, Valsad, Tapi and Dang districts will participate in this mega fair,” Mr Patel said.

There will be over 60 stalls, which will depict new methods of farming, research and value-addition technology in agriculture.

Mr Modi will inaugurate a cattle health camp and also release a souvenir being published by the Agriculture University.

After the event, he will also attend a mass-marriage function at Zankhvav village of Mangroltaluka in Surat district, where the marriage of 251 couples will be solemnised.

Each couple will get Rs 10,000 cash award under Gujarat Government’s ‘KunvarBai Nu Mameru’ scheme and the organisers will provide household goods worth Rs 25,000 to each couple.

Gujarat Assembly Speaker, Mr Ganpath Vasava, and the Tribal Development Minister, Mr Mangubhai Patel, will also attend the function.
