The 121-year-old Nilgiris Planters' Association (NPA) will conduct exclusive auctions for speciality teas manufactured by its members with their high-grown teas cultivated in about 6,900 hectares situated at 6,500 feet above sea level.
“From now on, we will conduct Speciality Tea auctions twice a year — March for winter teas and October for autumn teas. This year's winter teas now being manufactured will be made available at the Speciality Tea auction of March 10 on the Tea Board e-auction platform at the Coonoor Tea Trade Association. This endeavour arises from the overwhelming support we had received for the earlier two speciality tea auctions held in Coonoor in 2005 and in Las Vegas, US, in 2006”, the NPA Chairman, Mr Suresh Jacob, told Business Line .
