Upasi-KPA Coffee Conference which kicks off on September 28 will focus on plant nutrition, benefits of clonal propagation and on control of quick wilt disease in pepper.
Madhusudhan Prasad, additional secretary at the Union Commerce Ministry, will inaugurate the conference here on September 27. Vijayan P. Rajes, chairman of UPASI Coffee Committee; D. Hegde, president, UPASI; and M. Chandrashekar, secretary, Coffee Board, Bangalore will address the planters.
According to Marvin Rodrigues, chairman, Karnataka Planters’ Association, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, will address the 54th annual general meeting of KPA. Karnataka Ministers C.T. Ravi and D.N. Jeevaraj will preside.
At the coffee conference’s technical session, S.S. Ranade, chairman, Institute of Micronutrient Technology, Pune, will talk on ‘balanced plant nutrition.
P. Mohan Kumar, director at UPASI-TRF, Valparai, will speak on ‘Benefits of Clonal propagation in Tea - How this technology can be adapted on coffee plants.’
T.K. Jacob, scientist, Indian Institute of Spices Research, Kozhikode, will speak on ‘latest developments and advancement in black pepper cultivation with special emphasis on control of quick wilt disease.
