In spite of the November 8 note ban and the subsequent cap on the purchase of arecanut, the total turnover of Campco (Central Arecanut and Cocoa Marketing and Processing Cooperative) Ltd crossed the ₹1,600-crore mark in 2016-17.
Giving the provisional figures for the year, Suresh Bhandary, Campco MD, told BusinessLine the total turnover of the cooperative stood at a record ₹1,610 crore, against ₹1,591 crore in 2015-16. Arecanut’s share in the total turnover stood at around ₹1,400 crore.
The cooperative purchased around 53,700 tonnes of arecanut from its grower members in 2016-17, against 51,142 tonnes in 2015-16.
