Active enquiries by exporters for a Arabica Plantation, Arabica Cherry and Robusta Parchment premium grades at the Indian Coffee Trade Association (ICTA) auction lifted prices.

According to auctioneer J Thomas & Co, as other grades were expensive, domestic trade was active only on selective grades of Arabica Plantation and Robusta Cherry coffees.

Domestic roasters lent good support to Arabica Cherry coffees, bought between Rs 9,400 and Rs 10,400 for a 50-kg bag, due to the quality.

Arabica Plantation A grade price was higher by Rs 700 for a 50 kg bag compared with last week’s sale. AA and C grades received support at current price levels of Rs 11,000 and Rs 9,500 for 50 kg bags respectively; PB and B grades remained unsold as sellers’ price indications were higher than the buyers’ expectations.

Arabica Cherry PB and AB grade prices were higher by Rs 600 to 650 for 50 kg bags when compared with last week’s price level; A and AA grade sold at current price levels of Rs 10,250 and Rs 10,200 for 50 kg bags respectively while C grade remained unsold.

Robusta Parchment coffee prices were higher by Rs 100 to 200 for a 50 kg bag compared to last week. Robusta Cherry AB and AA sold at current price levels of Rs 10,000 and Rs 10,200 for 50 kg bags, PB and C grade remained unsold.

Arabica Plantation BBB sold at current price levels of Rs 6000 for a 50 kg bag; Arabica Cherry BBB prices were higher by Rs 800 a 50 kg bag; Robusta Parchment BBB sold at prices similar to last week while Robusta Cherry BBB remained unsold.

Arabica Cherry coffees from the northeast region offered by the Coffee Board received good support from the domestic trade. Arabica Cherry PB sold at between Rs 7,500 and Rs 8,000, Arabica Cherry A at Rs 8,500-Rs 8,750 and Arabica Cherry B at Rs 8,100.
