The sale 22 of the Coonoor Tea Trade Association (CTTA) auctions scheduled for May 28 and 29 was completed only on June 1 due to the technical snag in the e-platform operated by NSEIT.

“Following disruptions noticed in other auction centres, Tea Board had requested us to postpone the sale by a day and so, we rescheduled the programme with Leaf auctions for May 29 and Dust auctions for May 30,” CTTA Vice-Chairman L Vairavan told BusinessLine.

“However, the system got disrupted several times on May 29 forcing us to reschedule the unsold portions of both the Leaf and Dust auctions to May 30. But, the problem continued on May 30 and hence, we postponed the unsold portions of the catalogue to June 1,” he explained.

“This balance of the teas was auctioned on June 1 and so, Sale No: 20 was completed only on Monday,” he noted.

“We have represented to the Tea Board to make certain that NSEIT should ensure that any new version be first subject to error-free testing and then only implemented since this week’s disruption happened because of it pressing into operation a new programme without adequately testing its effective functioning,” Vairavan averred.

He said that sale 23 will be conducted as per schedule on June 4 and 5.
