Though tea prices tended to look up, it was less than half of the earlier week’s average at the auction conducted by the Coonoor Tea Manufacturers’ Service Industrial Cooperative Society (TeaServe) at ₹0.58/kg against the increase of ₹1.66 /kg last week (over the earlier week’s rate).
And at this second week’s sale for 2018, 67.6 per cent of the volumes on offer were taken up, with prices averaging at ₹67.84/ kg compared to the earlier week’s rate of ₹67.26/kg.
Just about 10 per cent of the tea leaf on offer was left unsold against 18 per cent last week.
Salisbury’s Broken Orange Pekoe Small (BOPSM) topped the CTC market at ₹85/kg.
In the dust category, more than 50 per cent of the volumes on offer were not taken up. Salisbury’s Pekoe Dust topped ratewise, touching a high of ₹74/kg.
