Prices of hybrid turmeric edged up on Thursday at Erode markets as buyers preferred them as they have received good number of orders.

“The price of the turmeric is almost stable for the past few days and no improvement was seen. Of the arrival of 3,200 bags, the traders procured 55 per cent of the stocks,” said RKV Ravishankar, President, Erode Turmeric Merchants Association.

On Thursday, the hybrid finger turmeric was up ₹100 a quintal and the local finger variety was down ₹100. The root variety remained unchanged.

At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association sales yard, the finger turmeric was sold at ₹4,233-6,669 a quintal; the root variety ₹4,106-5,809.

Salem Hybrid: The finger variety fetched ₹5,469-6,919 and the root variety ₹5,277-6,369 Of the 548 bags that arrived, 82 were sold.

At the Regulated Market Committee, the finger turmeric went for ₹5,589-6,569 and the root variety ₹5,353-6,169. Of the 922 bags put up for sale, 876 were traded.

At the Erode Cooperative Marketing Society, the finger turmeric was sold at ₹5,389-6,639; the root variety ₹5,369-6,120. All the 761 bags found takers.
