Natural rubber production fell by 4.7 per cent to 61,000 tonne in February, while consumption dropped by 10 per cent to 73,000 tonne during last month, according to Rubber Board data released today.
In February last year, production stood at 64,000 tonne and consumption at 80,265 tonne.
Imports fell by 61 per cent to 9,497 tonne last month from 24,519 tonne in February 2012, while exports jumped 7-fold to 6,650 tonne from 951 tonne during the period under review.
During the April-February period of this fiscal, consumption of rubber has increased merely by 0.9 per cent to 8,90,060 tonne, while the production has risen by 0.3 per cent to 8,51,200 tonne.
