National Seed Association of India (NSAI) has donated Rs 1.5 crore each to Andhra Pradesh and Telangana governments to support their fight against Covid-19.
NSAI president M Prabhakar Rao has called on AP Chief Minister YS Jagan Reddy and handed over the cheque of Rs 1.5 crore. A similar amount was donated to Telangana relief fund as well, NSAI said in a statement on Wednesday.
“We are deeply committed to India, and this donation is a small token of our gratitude for the tireless efforts made by the state governments of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The sacrifices of police, medical workers and other essential service workers, including farmers and members of the seed industry, have helped sustain India during these difficult times," Rao said.
Both the state governments have been very supportive towards the seed industry, and served as a model for India, especially in the agriculture sector, he said adding that they would continue supporting India, for a better world.
