Peter Mathias has been elected as the President of United Planters’ Assocation of Southern India (Upasi) and Vijayan Rajes as Vice-President for the year 2013-14 at the Annual General Meeting held at Coonoor.
Peter Mathias is the Managing Partner of Diwan Bahadur S.L. Mathias and Sons having tea, coffee and spices plantation at its Kelagur Estate in Chikmagalur district, Karnataka.
Vijayan Rajes owns the MSP Plantations, Yercaud. He has been serving on the Executive Committee of Upasi since 2002-03.
He also served as a member of Coffee Board during 1990-1993 and was the Vice-Chairman in 1993. He was the Chairman of Planters’ Association of Tamil Nadu, Shevaroy Planters Association, and served as the President of Yercaud Club.
