Rise in transport charges by ₹10-12 and shortage of trucks at producing level lifted sugar prices at the Vashi spot market by ₹6-16 a quintal on Wednesday. However naka and mill tender rates were steady on routine activities. On Tuesday evening, 15-16 mills sold 28,000-30,000 bags at ₹3,065-3,195 for S-grade and ₹3,170-3,300 for M-grade. On Bombay Sugar Merchants Association's spot rates were: S-grade ₹3,226-3,290 and M-grade ₹3,306-3,552. Naka delivery rates were: S-grade ₹3,180– 3,260 and M-grade ₹ 3,230 – 3,370.
