Spot rubber closed marginally higher on Friday. RSS-4 improved to ₹132 (131.50) a kg, according to traders and the Rubber Board.
Supply concerns owing to widespread rains and the absence of genuine sellers in the local trading houses kept the commodity firm during the day. RSS-4 weakened at its August futures to ₹132.50 (133.82) and September to ₹130.80 (131.36) on the National Multi Commodity Exchange (NMCE).
RSS-3 (spot) firmed up to ₹102.09 (101.99) at Bangkok. Its August futures slid to ₹101.32 (101.88) on the Tokyo Commodity Exchange (TOCOM).
Spot rubber rates (₹/kg): RSS-4: 132 (131.50); RSS-5: 130 (129.50); ISNR 20: 129 (129) and Latex (60% drc): 89 (88.50).
