Spot turmeric improves on demand

Spot turmeric prices increased at Erode markets on the back of fresh upcountry demand. RKV Ravishankar, a trader, said that 2,200 bags arrived and 70 per cent stocks were sold. Regarding the price of the commodity, the finger variety was up ₹150-200 a quintal and the root variety by ₹150. In all the markets, good quality root variety arrived for sale. At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association, the finger turmeric went for ₹7,541-8,719 a quintal; the root variety ₹7,289-7,808. Of the arrival of 723 bags, 241 were sold.
