The Madhya Pradesh-headquartered Rashtriya Kisan Sanghathan (RKS) has called for a 10-day 'village lockout' starting June 1 to protest against what it calls the government’s ‘indifference’ on crop pricing.
It has appealed to farmers across the country to bring agricultural trade to a standstill by asking farmers not to sell their produce as a protest against persistently low farm prices.
Gujarat Pradesh chief of RKS, Bholabhai Prajapati, said over 2 lakh farmers were contacted via whatsapp and phone to join this voluntary protest.
The Bhartiya Kisan Sangh (BKS) has distanced itself from the protest.“There is no such strike in Gujarat," said Gujarat Pradesh secretary, B K Patel.
Varun Patel, a member of RKS, stated that it is a voluntary call.
