Spot sugar prices ruled flat on Friday while futures rates extended loss on third consecutive day as new season’s production activities started picking up and producers are selling as they are carrying huge surplus stocks. On the Vashi market prices were steady with thin volatility. As producers continued selling at prevailing rates, sentiments at naka and mill level also remained calm. Freight rates were steady.
Arrivals to the Vashi market were at 61-62 truck loads and local dispatches were at 59-60 loads. The Bombay Sugar Merchants Association’s spot rates: S-grade ₹2,662-2,802 (2,666-2,782) and M-grade ₹2,772-2,912 (2,772-2,912). Naka delivery rates: S-grade ₹2,620-2,730 (2,620-2,730) and M-grade ₹2,730-2,830 (2,730-2,830).
