The arrivals of turmeric to all the markets in Erode registered an increase. “Despite higher arrivals, the price did not decrease. This is due to the receipt of some fresh upcountry demand received by the traders. Added to this, some good quality and good number of medium variety turmeric arrived for sale,”said RKV Ravishankar, President, Erode Turmeric Merchants Association. On Friday, 5,500 bags arrived and 75 per cent stocks were sold.
Some bags of finger turmeric at the Erode Cooperative Marketing Society fetched ₹350 a quintal more than previous day’s price. Similarly, it was up by ₹100 at the Regulated Marketing Committee. The prices of root variety, too, improved in the two markets.
