Turmeric prices were decreased on Thursday. “The arrival of turmeric increased to 2,700 bags on Thursday. Traders were buying limited stock for their turmeric Grinding units. They are waiting for upcountry demand”, said RKV Ravishankar, President, Erode Turmeric Merchants Association.
At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association Sales yard only 30 per cent turmeric were sold. But the sale was encouraging at the Erode Cooperative Marketing Society as 90 per cent of medium quality turmeric were sold out. At the Regulated Marketing Committee the sale was recorded at 60 per cent.
The price of the finger turmeric was decreased by ₹250 a quintal and ₹100 a quintal for root variety at the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association sales yard.
At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association Sales yard the finger turmeric sold at ₹5,655-7,016 a quintal, Root variety sold at ₹5,199-6,489 a quintal.
At the Regulated Marketing Committee the finger turmeric sold at ₹5,825-7,129 a quintal. The root variety sold at ₹5,275-6,309 a quintal.
At the Erode Cooperative Marketing Society finger turmeric sold at ₹5,888-7,089 a quintal, root variety at ₹8,769-6,510 a quintal.
