Turmeric slides for want of demand
Spot turmeric decreased in all markets on Monday. Farmers, expecting a good price, brought 4,500 bags for sale. Traders, however, quoted a lower price and purchased bags for their local demands, said Krishnamurthy, a trader. The sale was very low with 30 per cent at the Erode Regulated Marketing Committee. The price of finger turmeric decreased by ₹200 a quintal, but the buyers quoted a slightly higher price for the root variety and purchased the same. Similarly at the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association sales yard the arrival was high but only 35 per cent of stocks were sold. Prices of both varieties fell in all markets Our Correspondent
