A volume of 11 lakh kg has been catalogued for Sale No: 10 of Coonoor Tea Trade Association auction to be held on Thursday and Friday.
It is as much as 2.11 lakh kg less than last week’s offer.
Of this, 7.78 lakh kg belongs to leaf grades and 3.22 lakh kg, dust grade.
As much as 10.02 lakh kg belongs to CTC variety and only 98,000 kg, orthodox variety.
The proportion of orthodox teas continues to be low in both leaf and dust grades.
In the leaf counter, only 48,000 kg belongs to orthodox while 7.30 lakh kg, CTC. Among the dusts, only 50,000 kg belongs to orthodox while 2.72 lakh kg, CTC. Among orthodox teas from corporate sector last week, Chamraj topped at ₹255 followed by Kodanad ₹244, Kairbetta at ₹243, Havukal ₹210, and Corsley ₹201. In all, 51 marks got ₹125 and more per kg.
Quotations held by brokers indicated bids ranging ₹50-54 a kg for plain leaf grades and ₹100-165 for brighter liquoring sorts.
They ranged ₹62-64 for plain dusts and ₹110-175 for brighter liquoring dusts.
