A volume of 14.17 lakh kg has been catalogued for Sale No: 38 of Coonoor Tea Trade Association auctions which will conclude on Friday. This is some 48,000 kg less than last week’s offer.
Of this, 9.42 lakh kg belongs to leaf grades and 4.75 lakh kg, dust grades. As much as 13.09 lakh kg belongs to CTC variety and only 1.08 lakh kg, orthodox variety.
In the leaf counter, only 62,000 kg belongs to orthodox while 8.80 lakh kg, CTC. Among the dusts, only 46,000 kg belongs to orthodox while 4.29 lakh kg, CTC.
Homedale Estate’s Red Dust tea, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, topped the entire CTC auctions last week when J P Enterprises bought it for ₹247 a kg. Two more Dust grades of Homedale Estate, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, followed at ₹243 and ₹241. In the CTC Leaf tea auctions, Homedale’s Broken Orange Pekoe grade, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, topped at ₹218.
