Our Bureau The most important budgetary announcement for the logistics sector was the plan to develop a National Logistics Portal as a single window online marketplace to link all the stakeholders. With this, the industry can deal with a single ministry rather than with seven different ministries, said R Dinesh, JMD, TV Sundram Iyengar & Sons Pvt Ltd, and Deputy Chairman, CII Southern Region.
Dinesh, who also chairs the CII Institute of Logistics, said the institute had signed an MoU with the Commerce Ministry last month, under which the industry could deal with just one core ministry rather than with various ministries such as Railways, Highways and Civil Aviation. The single-window portal takes this forward, he said. This is the single biggest change with this common portal coming, he said.
Jaitley’s announcement for the logistics sector spurred the stock price of major players including Aegis Logistics, All Cargo, Mahindra Logistics and VRL Logistics.
