Y K Alagh, past member of Planning Commission of India and former Power Minister said, the budget announcements are fairly progressive especially made on setting up satellite towns, agriculture, rural development, power sector reforms.
This shows that government is concentrating more on infrastructure and that is the right direction for the government at present.
On the taxation front, the Finance Minister has acted just like any other conventional finance minister by adopting usual methods of taxing items. He could have adopted a more reform-based tax structure for indirect taxes, which he did not.
