West Bengal Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee, yet again attacked the Centre over the Budget claiming it to be “missionless, visionless and actionless”.

According to her Facebook post, the Budget has made a mockery of the State yet again and made it clear that the BJP-led NDA was working with a “political vendetta”.

“The new government has just started functioning with a political vendetta. It is the morning that shows the day,” her post read.

She further attacked the Narendra Modi-led Government for opting for FDI in defence and insurance; and, claimed the decision to be anti-people. She even criticised the up to 49 per cent disinvestment proposal in the banking sector.

“…the new government (has) established in two budgets (Rail and Union) that they have become a government of the FDI, by the FDI and for the FDI. Already, there is FDI in the retail. Now FDI is increased to 49 per cent in Defence, and Insurance Sectors. In addition, disinvestment in banking sector is up to 49 per cent. All these will adversely affect the people of the country,” she said.

According to Banerjee, the Centre has yet again deprived Bengal of any major opportunities. The State, she claimed, does not find mention among the six textile clusters announced, even though it has tremendous potential in the sector.

Similarly, Bengal despite despite being amongst the largest fruits and vegetables producers of the country, does not feature amongst the probable states where a Horticulture University has been proposed.

She was also critical of the fact that there was no increase in allocation for the MGNREGS.

Even the “Beti Bachao, Beti Parao” scheme fails live upto expectations with a corpus of just Rs 100 crore for all States and Union Territories put together, Banerjee claimed.

According to Chief Minister, the Rs 100 crore corpus allocated for start-up companies for the rural youth is insufficient especially when the number of rural youth stand at 55 crore.

“As against about 55 crore of rural youth population in the country, only Rs 100 crore is highly insulting to them,” she wrote.
