India’s missile strength will be on full display at this year’s Republic Day Parade with the long-range surface-to-surface missile Agni-5 in the forefront.

The ballistic missile capable of delivering payloads, including nuclear weapons, up to 5,000 km, has been termed a ‘game changer’ by defence analysts who suggest that it gives India the necessary deterrence required given the perceived threat from its neighbours.

In addition to Agni 5, the Defence Research & Development Organisation’s would showcase the Armoured Amphibious Dozer besides two tableaus, according to a press release.

While one tableau would depict the Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) System, the other would exhibit the advanced Sonars developed for the Indian Navy.

The Armoured Dozer is a versatile combat engineer support equipment with  earth-moving and amphibious capabilities that can operate in varied terrain, including deserts, plains and riverine areas.

The AEW&C is an all-weather, all-terrain, all-environment capable surveillance system that is mounted on a modified Embraer aircraft. The cost-effective airborne early warning system has been designed indigenously to meet the current and future operational requirements of the Indian Air Force.

The Naval Sonars (helpful in detection and ranging of underwater targets) offer a degree of self-reliance in the field and in anti-submarine warfare technologies. They have been developed by naval laboratories and  are produced by Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) and other industrial partners within the country.
