The Finance Ministry has extended by one year the validity of anti-dumping duty on acetone imports from Thailand and Japan.
This follows the Designated Authority in the Commerce Ministry initiating on April 7 a sunset review of the existing anti-dumping duty on ‘acetone’ imports from Thailand and Japan.
The revenue department has said the anti-dumping duty — which expired on April 8 this year — will now be valid until April 8 next year.
The petition seeking continuation of anti-dumping duty on acetone imports from these two countries was filed by Hindustan Organic Chemicals Ltd and SI Group India Ltd.
Acetone is an organic chemical used in the manufacture of bulk pharmaceuticals and rubber chemicals. It is also used as a solvent in the manufacture of paints and coatings.
