Low taxes, the rule of law and the availability of business talent are among the advantages Hong Kong offers entrepreneurs, according to Simon Galpin, Director-General of Invest Hong Kong (Invest HK).

He said Indian entrepreneurs could use these attributes to make Hong Kong their platform for expansion in Asia.

He also highlighted new business opportunities that emanate from the city’s unique role with mainland China.

Galpin was in Kerala in connection with a meeting organised by the Cochin Chamber of Commerce and Industry along with Invest HK.

Addressing a business luncheon with leading business leaders here, Galpin said Hong Kong is also increasingly a springboard for mainland enterprises to go global, which creates demand for quality business support services such as fund-raising, law, accounting, product design and marketing services.

As Hong Kong continues to integrate with mainland China, the city has taken on a leading role as China’s window to the world, he said.

Invest HK is the investment promotion wing of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government. It is responsible for foreign direct investment and supports overseas and mainland businesses set up or expand in Hong Kong. It provides free advice and customised services to help businesses succeed in HK’s vibrant economy.
