The Tirupur Exporters’ Association has hailed the Survey findings on exports, as it is expected to be the biggest source of upside potential for the economy, with specific mention on the textiles and apparel sector.

TEA President Raja M Shanmugham in a release said that the Survey calls for expeditious elimination of embedded export taxes, which is a welcome move. The association, he points out, has been requesting for the same, besides appealing for enhancement of the Rebate of State Levies (ROSL), to compensate the embedded tax.

Ready-made garment exports have started to move south from October onwards compared to the corresponding months of the previous year, the TEA President said and hoped that the government would announce some positive export measures to revive exports and sustain in the global market

A Sakthivel, Regional Chairman, Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) Southern Region, was quite positive about Indian exports showing double digit growth in the coming years irrespective of growing protectionism across the world.

He too stressed the need for continuation of duty drawback and ROSL to keep the export momentum. The schemes should continue till India attains a respectable 5 per cent share in global trade and all impeded taxes on export products are refunded, said Sakthivel.
