Iron ore worth Rs 6 crore was seized from over 50 bogies of a goods train during a raid at the Yeshwanthpur Railway station in the district today.
“On a tip-off, we conducted a raid and seized 3,840 tonnes of iron ore from 59 bogies of a goods train which was being illegally transported to a steel plant in Andhra Pradesh,” Mr Ramamurthy, Range Forest Officer-Sandur taluk, told PTI.
The iron ore was being transported on fake permits and duplicate documents. “We have seized all these and will hand it over to the Government,” he said.
