The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has taken up traffic facilitation works which will enable concessionaire L&T to take up construction works for the Metro Rail project.

Following directives from the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Mr N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, officials of several departments and corporations have initiated coordinated efforts to help L&T take up site works.

The GHMC, National Highway Authority and Roads and Buildings departments have initiated several preparatory works in the priority stretches. Roads will be barricaded to a width of 26 feet between Nagole and Mettuguda 8 km on Metro Rail corridor-III and between Miyapur and Ameerpet (12 km) on corridor-I from January to start the Metro Rail pillar and viaduct construction works, said Mr N.V.S. Reddy, Managing Director of Hyderabad Metro Rail.

In a statement he said that HMR has taken up the task of decongesting all the intersections in the priority stretches. In all about Rs 70 crore has been allocated for various works including Rs 32 crore for laying additional lanes.
