As, Modi looks to put Yoga on the world map with the UN declaring June 21 as international yoga day, a seminar by railway union on keeping railways clean ended with three Yogasanas - Hasya Yoga, Bhastrika and Yog Nidra.

So, about a few hundred people – over 500 as per All India Railway Federation officials - started with Hasya (laughter) Yoga, with everybody raising their hands and laughing their hearts out.

This was followed by a deep breathing exercise “to be at peace”, basically a pranayama called Bhastrika. The yogasanas were guided by AN Tripathy, Senior Deputy Personnel Officer.

Finally, all the delegates were guided to do Yog Nidra (sleep), albeit in standing position, asking people to relax each part of their body. There was also three times “OM” chanting to ensure “flow of the energy in body”.

Earlier, speaking on the occasion, Shiva Gopal Mishra requested the Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu, to look into the Career Progression of Railway sanitation staff. He also demanded for provision of adequate number of regular sanitation staff and dustbins at railway platforms, premises and simultaneously stressed for strict enforcement of laws, prohibiting the people dirtying the Railways.

Prabhu stated that rail workers and its commuters are two sides of a coin and coordination between them is a need of time, according to a release. He emphasised the importance of cleanliness on the one hand, on the other, appealed to adopt Yoga for healthy life.

He also requested all the members present in the hall to propagate the message of countrywide Yoga Programme on June 21, 2015.
