South Western Railway (SWR) through active assistance from Railway Protection Force (RPF) in special ticket checking drives has yielded additional revenues Rs 7.75 crore.
speaking on the 27th RPF Raising Day, Mr Kuldeep Chaturvedi, General Manager, South Western Railway, said “RPF through its active assistance in ticket checking drives of the Commercial Department yielded additional revenue of Rs 4.42 crore in 2010 and Rs 3.33 crore, so far in the current year 2011.”
He also said that in 2010 and in the current year till August, stolen Railway Property valued at Rs 37.64 lakh were recovered with arrests of 494 criminals in the cases registered under RP(UP) Act, 1966.
In the same period, 60,835 people were prosecuted for various offences under ‘Railways Act' with Rs 163.51 lakh realised as fine from the offenders. During this period, 308 deserted children were rescued and handed over to their parents through Non-government organisations (NGOs).
The sniffer dog/Arjun of RPF Dog Kennel/Hubli participated in the Jack Lawrence Memorial Show held at Ooty on May 13 and secured three trophies and three shields and got second prize in the competition.
Mr Chaturvedi commended the performance of RPF in South Western Railway and congratulated the RPF for its dedicated services to the Railways.
Mr Praveen Kumar Mishra, Divisional Railway Manager, SWR, Hubli and Mr R. Pacharwal, Chief Security Commissioner, RPF, SWR, Hubli were also present on the occasion. As part of progress report of RPF, Mr Pacharwal said in view of threat perception, installation of CCTV surveillance system, expeditious implementation of integrated security system, procurement of modernised security equipments such as door frame metal detectors, explosive detectors, baggage screening, X-Ray machines, bomb detection and disposal squads are nearing completion. The vacant posts in RPF are being filled up.
