SpiceJet will start flight services between Chennai and Port Blair from May. Bookings of tickets have started, the company said.
SpiceJet would operate four flights a week on the route (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday) with a Boeing aircraft.
Port Blair would be SpiceJet’s 35th destination in India. Currently, the airline operates services to 34 destinations in India, apart from two international flights (Colombo and Kathmandu).
SpiceJet Ltd is expanding its domestic routes with a new fleet of Boeing 737 NextGen aircraft and the latest Q400 NextGen turboprop aircraft from Bombardier. Recently, the airline started flights from Nanded (a Sikh pilgrimage spot in Maharashtra) to Aurangabad, Mumbai, Delhi and Thiruvananthapuram.
