Addressing presspersons here on Thursday, Dr M. Mohan Alva, Chairman of the foundation, said over 9,000 students across southern India had registered online for the job fair. Of them, nearly 6,000 aspirants had registered for jobs in the IT and IT-enabled services.
Mr Vivek Alva, Trustee of the foundation, said though the catchment area for the job fair is Dakshina Kannada and its adjoining districts, 428 registrations have been received from Tamil Nadu. There were some registrations from northern and central India also. He said 323 students from Mysore had registered for ‘Alva’s Pragati-2012’.
Mr Alva said 135 companies from the manufacturing, IT, IT-enabled services, retail and hospitality sectors had registered for the job fair. The manufacturing and IT sectors were the thrust areas for the placement drive, he said.
