Power Minister Veerappa Moily on Friday said that issues related to signing of fuel supply agreements with Coal India would be sorted out soon and no coal-based power project would face fuel shortage in the 12th Five-Year Plan (2012-2017).
The Minister said he would convene a meeting on October 16 with the Coal Minister to sort out issues with regard to Fuel Supply Agreements (FSA) with Coal India. Senior officials of both power and coal ministries would be present at the meeting.
“I am holding a meeting with Coal Minister and senior officials of both the ministries on October 16. We will sort out all the issues. I can assure you no project will suffer for want of fuel (coal) in the 12th plan,” Moily told visiting reporters after laying foundation stone of the 756 KV Raichur-Solapur Transmission System being set up by Power Grid Corporation here at a cost of Rs 1,930 crore.
“Power projects aggregating as much 92,000 mw are under various stages of construction in the country. Whichever project is ready for commissioning, we are ready to get FSA for the project,” the minister added.
He informed that the work on transmission system will commence immediately and it will be ready by December 2013 which would make it possible to transmit power from the Northern grid to Southern grid.
