Public sector oil marketing companies announced a hike of ₹0.64 a litre in the retail selling price of petrol but cut the retail price of diesel by ₹1.35 a litre in Delhi, effective midnight May 15/16. The changes include State levies and will vary from State to State.
“Since the last change, there has been an increase in international prices of petrol while international prices of diesel have shown a downward trend. The rupee-dollar exchange rate has depreciated during this period. The combined impact of these factors warrant an upward revision in prices of petrol and a downward revision in prices of diesel, the impact of which is being passed on to the consumers with this price change,” IOC said in a statement.
Petrol in Delhi will now cost ₹66.93 a litre and diesel ₹50.93/litre.
